Android Based Destination Alarm Using GPS
Android Based Destination Alarm Using GPS
This project titled Destination Alarm using GPS is an attempt to add alarm facility for mobiles based on the location of the device. This facility is currently not available for mobile handsets.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. It is maintained by the US government. The proposed system plans to make use of this facility and implement it in mobile handsets so that location based alarm facility can be made available in mobile handsets.
In situation when we are on a long journey, we tend to have a nap in between that might result in missing our destination. This application with the help of GPS calculates the distance that is travelled and activates an alarm when a predefined distance is reached.
Also we developed an application that uses Google Maps and GPS to track
the location. We can select any location on the map and the application triggers an alarm when that location is reached. This may be useful for the persons who want to use location as a parameter rather than time.
