A toll road, also known as a turnpike or toll way, is a public or private roadway for which a fee (or toll) is assessed for passage. It is a form of road pricing typically implemented to help recoup the cost of road construction and maintenance, which (on public roads) amounts to a form of taxation.
We are implementing a project using AT89S52 for toll gate maintenance.
Here we have categorized vehicle as four types. They are
Type 1- three wheelers
Type 2- four wheelers
Type 3- Heavy vehicles
Type 4- Govt vehicles
At each and every toll gate a person will be present for billing. He need to press the switch by identifying the type of vehicle. If the switch is pressed, gate will be opened and after some delay the gate closes. Delay is to make the vehicle to enter and also to pay the tax. Here we are using IoT module to update the information about the traffic and also the type of vehicles travelled in that particular highway in the web server. This is greater advantage for the officials to analyze the number of vehicles and also to maintain the roads with much care in case of heavy traffic. Revenue can be calculated easily.
This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac out put of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer.
